National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) – SankatMochan

The National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) is designed to provide a one-time lump sum cash assistance of Rs. 20,000 to families living below the poverty line when the primary breadwinner between the ages of 18-59 passes away. The scheme aims to ensure the social security of households that live below the poverty line, with the payment going to the widow or unmarried daughter of the family.

To be eligible for the NFBS, families must meet the following criteria: they should be on the BPL list, the main income earner of the family should have died due to natural or accidental causes, and their age at the time of death should be between 18 and 60 years. Additionally, families must submit an application within two years of the death to qualify for the scheme.

Rs. 20,000/- to the family.

Beneficiary:

Family should be in BPL List as determined by the Government of India.

Eligibility criteria:

Family should be in BPL List as determined by the Government of India. Additionally, the primary earner of the family, whether male or female, must have passed away, with their age being between 18 and 60 years. Finally, the application for assistance must be submitted within two years after the death.

The Scheme provides a one-time assistance payment of Rs. 20,000/- to the family of the deceased, whether the death was natural or accidental.

Payment of the assistance is made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into the beneficiary’s post or bank account.

The Taluka Mamlatdars are authorized to approve or disapprove the assistance under this scheme.

How To Apply:

Applications for assistance can be submitted online through the concerned Taluka Jan Seva Kendra-Mamlatdar Office or Gram Panchayat at the village level.
